What Researchy keeps, and where
This note describes what the site does today. It is a draft: a full privacy policy will replace it before payments open.
Your account
When you create an account, Researchy keeps your email address, your password (stored by the sign-in service as a one-way hash, never in readable form), your name, your institution and the disciplines you choose. We use your email only to sign you in and to send the emails the account needs: the confirmation link and password-reset links.
What the site records as you use it
- Studies you post: their details are public in the feed. Each study's completion code is visible only to you. You can pause or delete a study under My studies. A deleted study leaves the site and its code is erased; a short record stays so that respondents' karma remains correct, until your account is deleted.
- Studies you complete: which studies, when, and how long the timer ran. This is how karma is checked and how your participation record is made.
- Karma: a list of every karma change (sign-up, completions, Spotlights).
- Scholar Club and Faculty Club: if you become a member, the plan and the date your membership ends, and for Faculty Club, which studies used its conversions. Members show a laurel badge next to their name on their studies.
- "Tell me when it opens": if you ask to be told when Scholar Club, Faculty Club or the faculty programme opens, Researchy keeps which ones you chose, when, and (for the faculty programme) the department and class you typed. We send one email to your account's address when each opens, mark you as told, and send nothing else. You can take yourself off under Opening soon in your account menu.
- Certificates: when you reach 5, 15, 30 or 50 completed studies, Researchy issues a certificate with your profile name, the level, the date and a reference. It is private unless you switch on "Let anyone check this certificate". Then anyone with its reference or link (for example from your LinkedIn profile) can see that name, level, date and reference on a Researchy page, and nothing else. You can switch this off at any time.
- Conversion requests: if you request an interactive conversion, the request form (a Google Form run by Researchy) keeps what you enter there: your Google email address, name, role, institution, an optional phone number, your study's details, its links and the PDF of your Form. It is kept in Researchy's Google Workspace and used only to make and manage your conversion.
- The Researchy poll: your four answers, saved with your account so the poll can be answered once. They are used only to plan Researchy.
Other visitors see only the studies in the feed, and any certificate you have chosen to make checkable. Your karma, completions, poll answers and codes are visible to you and to the person who runs Researchy.
Where it is kept
Accounts and the records above are kept in Researchy's database, run by a hosted database and sign-in provider on servers in India. The website is served by Cloudflare. These services keep short technical logs (such as IP addresses) to run and protect their networks.
On your device
Your browser keeps your sign-in session (so you stay signed in) and your currency choice (₹ or $) in local storage. Signing out removes the session.
Deleting your account
You can ask for your account and everything linked to it to be deleted at any time by emailing [email protected] from the address you signed up with. Studies you posted are removed with it.
Surveys you take
Each study is run by its researcher on their own survey tool (for example Google Forms). Your answers go to that researcher under their tool's terms, not to Researchy. Read the study's own information before you take part.
Some studies have an interactive version made by Researchy, at study.researchy.org. It shows the same questions one at a time and sends your answers straight to the researcher's own Google Form. Researchy doesn't receive or keep them. Until you submit, your answers are saved only in your browser so you can come back to them; they are cleared from it once they are sent.
Sharing
Share buttons open WhatsApp, LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Telegram or your email app with a prepared message you can edit. Researchy does not post anything for you. "Add to LinkedIn profile" opens LinkedIn's own form, filled in with your certificate's details; you choose whether to save it there.
Cookies and tracking
Researchy sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile loads when you sign in or create an account, to check that you're a person and not a bot. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you. Some links carry a short "from" label (for example from=share) so Researchy can see which links bring visitors.
